![]() Hey guys, trying to take a trip over to the Delaware river this friday/saturday, just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on where to go over there. Gonna be my first time fishing it, going on my kayak. Just want to catch some smallies or lmb. Don't know anything or any spots to go, if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. I need to stay jersey side because I didn't get a PA lisence.

but just so you know, you are not restricted to just the Jersey side of the Delaware. You can go to the PA side and fish from the banks over there as well with a Jersey license. This is the only river in PA that allows this. http://www.eregulations.com/newjerse...elaware-river/ Last edited by Capspath83; 08-10-2016 at 05:23 PM.. |

Chrisper is correct- boundary rules for greenwood and the deleware. As for a spot- I'm just as belwildered as you- I'm a lake/steam guy. tight lines. Edit- u have to follow creel limits depending on size- usually nbd- the file is from the f-g app- website Last edited by 23cardinal; 08-10-2016 at 11:58 PM.. |

![]() Jav320 what part of the big D are you thinking of fishing? Do you plan on putting yak in and floating from point A to point B, or your just going to put yak in and fish around were you launch?
The whole river holds a pile of small mouths and the slower moving water and small coves try for the large mouths. Were we fish in the Big D out of every 100 SM we catch we might have 1 LM. The fish are all over the river also not just in the big pools/holes. Focus more on structure, current breaks, and the edge of the weed lines that run along the shore. Find those big boulders and rock piles and that's were you'll find your smallies. |

![]() Hey guys thanks for the heads up on the license situation. That a huge weight off my shoulders lol.
Fluken-Around, I'm not sure what part of the Delaware to go to, I'm located in manville so whatever is closest or wherever is better I guess lol. Planning on doing a point A to B, want to go for like the entire day, start around 4ish and leave late afternoon. Is that possible on there with the current? Or should I go for a while head back to the car and load up at another point? |

![]() You're looking to do a single day trip, correct? In that case, there are multiple trips you could do and utilize the shuttle service that operates within the Recreation Area. It's free, and they will shuttle you and your kayak back to your starting point. Here's the link for that.. https://www.gomcta.com/trip.php#float
As for your actual float, here is a map and some mileage distance between the popular launch locations. I've floated the river from Barryville, NY to The Gap, so if you're thinking about a particular section, throw me a private message and I'll share some info. ![]()

![]() To be all honest it doesn't matter where you go. Can go anywhere from new York down to where it starts to get tidal swings and you will get into smallmouth. This time year fish deeper water around boulders and through different sections of rapids. First and last light I like top water as it's so much fun, then the first and last hour of light I like spinner baits, swimbaits, rapals etc. Once the sun is bright I fish brown tubes.

![]() If your were to do just straight paddling, You can bang out 4 miles an hour easy. The best way to run a stretch is pick to public launch sites found here.
http://delawareriverwatertrail.org/water-trail-map/ Do a little math using the river mile marker, and fish any stretch you want to explore. The whole river holds fish. Try Kittatiny NPS access (Rt 80 Del Water Gap) to Belvidere (13 miles-ish?) I wouldn't launch at 4AM in the dark though, you want to see the river while your are paddling it.

![]() Thanks to all you guys for all the information, I really appreciate the help.
The shuttle system is only open saturday and sunday, are there any other shuttle systems? It doesn't have to be free. If not, I'll have to travel less on the water to make it back to the car without dying haha. |
