Default Montego Bay, Jamaica

I'm heading down very soon, does anyone have experience or leads on fishing this area? Shared charters or any boats?

Eddie, my cruise a couple years ago had lined up a shared charter but it was canceled due to winds when we got to port so don't have any names for you. Was given advice to make sure traveled in with cab and travel right back out after trip.

I did a shared charter in negril last year it was a waste of time and money it turned out to be a four hour boat ride in the heat.Jamacia has been fished out for years I should have listened to what everybody else said, you live and learn save your money and go fish the Florida keys.

Similar experience here while at Atlantis a while back.... One of the guys in our our party set up a trip which I decide to join. I knew we were in for a boat ride when I saw the boat was named "The Enterprise" and the captain introduced himself as "Captain Kirk"

The boat was in all sorts of disrepair only to be outdone by the fishing equipment we used. Fishing consistent of travelling about 1/2 mile out of the harbor, anchoring up and using squid to catch a bunch of little reef dwellers that were the size of Sunnies.

If I were dead set on fishing there, it would only be on a solid recommendation from someone who fishes regularly and knows someone down there that is up to US standards... I think that will likely be a very short list.

Having said all this, I've fished in a lot of different places and the quality and effort our local charter and party boats put into to fishing here in NJ is second to none.

Once you've fished on boats in places like Jamaica you realize how good we have it in NJ, in terms of fishing.
