Favorite combo for Mojos 16 oz
Currently fishing the Mojos of old school Abu 10000 reels with 65 lb braid on 7 foot heavy rod. What are most of you guys using. While on the trolling topic i fish wire for spoons and umbrella rigs but considering going to braid and 2 new combos. Any info is appreciated!!!

Re: Favorite combo for Mojos 16 oz
I'm fishing 30 pound class 7 foot Seeker rods and Avet LXs and 65 pound braid. The rods are probably a little too stiff for Bunkers spoons but I don't troll them that often, mostly Mojos and Stretches. I also use these same set ups for trolling
inshore school bluefin and Mahi so they serve many purposes. Nice part of the Avets is the lever drag which allows you to keep just enough line tension to keep the lures from taking line unless you get a hook up then you just move the lever to to strike and you are on your preset drag. Slick butts are a practically a must for trolling poles since it allows you to get the poles out of your rod holders easier. This becomes very important when you have a fish on and need to get the rod out of the holder.

Re: Favorite combo for Mojos 16 oz
I've been pulling shad rigs on my wire spoon rods for years. Last year we had a big 9er shad rig out on 300' of wire and the wire snapped at the rod tip and we lost a lot of hardware. I retied another shad rig directly to my braid backing and started catching immediately. Huge difference in the way the fish felt on the rod also w/out the wire. So this year I got a pair 7' Shimano Tallus rods w/TLD 20's. 50# braid...I think they will do well for the big 9er rigs and handle the 32oz mojos as well. Also double for some offshore uses and take the stress off my wire set ups for spooning.

Re: Favorite combo for Mojos 16 oz
Mojos, stretches and umbrellas get pulled on 7' MH uglysticks (rated 20-50lb) using Diawa SG27LCA linecounters (updated with carbontex drags) and 50lb J-Braid.
I hated pulling umbrellas on my wire line rigs.

Re: Favorite combo for Mojos 16 oz
I just got 2 Shimano Tekota 600LC reels with 65lb braid and put them on 7' Sabre 20-50lb Sabre rods for Mojos & Stretch Plugs.
