Default Finally got out for a couple hours Sunday

Of course the better day was Saturday, but my son had a baseball game in Holmdel, and had to attend (I try not to miss any of his baseball), but was able to get out on the Squan on Sunday. It was funny, I went by early Saturday before the game to get my Ramp pass for the year, there must have been 7-8 trailers in the parking lot, I got there about 9:30 on Sunday, and not a one trailer...LOL I had to whole lake to myself. It was not really cold, BUT typical Squan. VERY windy, which I really though I was gonna have a nice calm day...NOT...LOL I basically wanted to just get out to fool around with my new HDS touch 7, and get to learn it a little. After a while I said might as well get some fishing in, cruised around, and found a couple good drop off's with some fish hanging on them, basically caught 2 small LM on a drop shot, then changed to a 4" perch Jerk bait, and picked up this decent LM. Started raining, and I was out of there. All in all, I didnt care much about anything , except I WAS FISHING. Sorry for the terrible selfie, I look like a real jerk...LOL Guess I will have to catch more fish and practice.

Water was actually not that clear as is during the year, I would imagine that might have to do with pumping the water back into the reservoir, that last time i fished it in late fall, it was at least 10 feet down, now it's filled back up to the top (where i like it LOL)

Chris... A Jerk using a a Jerk Bait...LOL

You ever target the skis they put in there? How about the hybrids?

As far as the Hybrids go, I only fished once or twice late in the year (Nov.) and talked to a couple guy's who fish for them there, they pretty much told me the area's to find them, and fish for them, but I had no luck at all, could not mark any, now there were time through the year, as I'm going spot to spot SM, and LM fishing crossing some of the deep areas, I saw the bait balls with fish feeding in them, only to assume that they were Hybrid. Skies are pretty quite there, I didn't even hear of anyone catching one last year, I know a couple times when I was fishing with my pig and jig, that I hooked into a couple, it pretty much felt like a car on the end of the line, huge pole bend, then "snap" goes the line, I dont use wire leaders on my jigs, but this year I'm gonna have a seprate pole set up with a wire leader on my jig to give it a try. No lie, I must have lost 7 jigs the same way over the season there. Keep in mind, some of them were most likely pickerel also, but when you feel that pole bend like a mother, and it feels like a car on the line, thats NO pickerel...LOL
