Thumbs up suburban rainbows

didn't have a lot of time but wanted to get out monday before the weather moved through for some trout fishing. stayed local due to the time constraint and hit the river downtown.

started off tossing a husky jerk, but the fish weren't interested. switched over to bait that looks like eggs and they were all over it. was able to c&r a few decent ones before dark. i didn't bring mine since i was running & gunning staying mobile, but if you fly fish, it's a good time to run egg patterns.

Awesome trout! I think since most of them are stocked, they are more inclined to bite anything that smells like or resembles their hatchery food including powerbait doughballs. Any fly pattern that looks like a yellow egg/ blob should get a hit.
I have even found small yellow colored pieces of sticks in some of the trout i kept. They really react to that yellow color.

Had the skunk on for almost two weeks! Sucked!! I knew there were fish in my hole, but nothing. Today I decided to walk up river about a half mile from the stocking point....New Hole!!😀
& Even better I hooked a nice girl about two weeks back pretty deep in the throat. It was getting dark I forgot the headlamp in the car so I cut the hook off at the eye and worked her back to life and let her go. I felt terrible about leaving that blood claw in that trout, to the point i was online doing research if the fish ultimately can survive such an ordeal. Well I got my answer first hand today. First fish I hook into has swallowed my hook, I open her up to work the hook out and there is my hook just as I left it two weeks back! Great news I was able to quickly work out both hooks with ease and the second I put her back in the water she darted off! I didn't even need to work her back to life. Needless to say I didn't get a picture of her because I was so concerned with just getting her back in the water.
No good deed goes unpunished. I soon hooked the nice male pictured below.
If i didn't have to leave I think there we're more stacked up in my new hole on the N. BRANCH. The trout we're smacking samon eggs. I missed a couple hook sets, but i'llb be back for those that got away soon: )
All fish released...
