joe zagorski and friends tuna beat down 10/21/15


capt's kevin gerrity and dave bender took long time customer joe zago of wall njalong with dave daley, newcomer mik, sven, and the two daves out for their annual ornight adventure. the weatherman should be shot, ok that being said, we had an amazing trip. it started off with three bite offs on jigs? then finally joe caught one of the culprits, a nice 40 plus pound wahoo. after sunset the yellowfins showed up. at first we got a bite or two and would have to wait an hour, then another bite or two. well, by midnight is was plain good fishing and by 2am it was mayhem. the guys worked thier tails off and fought these big yellows all night long. at about 5am we had our six man limit. we waited till sunrise and pulled the hook in an angry ocean, but somehow that ride home felt alot better with 18 big yellowfins on ice. we have had our ups and downs this season, but wednesday night was our turn and we thank god for the opportunity to spend it with these fine folks and doing what we love to do. kevn and i put an amazing amount of effort into these trips and it starts a full day before, we appreciate when it all pays off in the end for quality people.

Capt Dave: Thanks as always for your and Kevins preparation, dedication,, work ethic and passion for these trips. The results speak for themselves time and again. Never had a bad catching trip on the JL yet. The work ethic is more epic than the catching on this boat and laughs, Ball busting etc.

Joey , Sven and the 2 Daves are just animals, working the fish ALL night long and the finest Tuna Fishermen I have had the pleasure to be out there with.

Joey and Sven are the best, Great to meet NJ Dave and his buddy Dave and can now add them to friend / fishing list. Just great guys to spend time in the deep with.

Have to admit the 27 knots sporty conditions took a toll on me and the mal de mare set in so basically I was just a sofa ornament most of the trip (thank god for the satellite TV!) although Cappy was nice enough to include me in pics, the guys above did all the heavy lifting.

Will be back regardless of wishing I spent my canyon trip money with Dr Kavorkian

Thanks Dave awesome trip as usual. The Jenny Lee experience is like no other. Dedication, devotion, passion and many other ingredients the make it so great. Thanks for all the efforts. I was sure at about 30 miles you were thinking we probably should pull the plug on this. I'm sure glad you didn't come down and ask. I'm sure you knew my answer. By trips end I had 16 Advil and a very stiff back. I had to put my big boy pants on and suck it up instead of doing my usual sleeping for quite a while thing. Great group of guys, great Capt and crew. We killed it!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to all involved. Aching bodies and smiling faces prevailed. I just can't stop smiling thanks and see ya next year. Same bat time same bat station. Dave the cable guy is an animal!!!!! Great job by you sir.
