Talking Birthday PIKE 8/29

Hit the river late this morning after getting a few presents from my kids. Nothing fishing related but getting anything from my 2 little monsters is just AWESOME.

Decided to hit a different stretch today hoping to get something with teeth for my birthday. Managed 3 Pike on a rather large lure. 2 little guys measured around 24 inches and 1 of them was in pretty bad shape. Tail was missing and apparently the fish was caught recently because half of his gills were hanging out. The biggest Pike went around 34 inches but I couldn't get an angle on her to grab her. Im standing on a muddy bank and just can't reach the fish and there was all kinds of crap in the way. I tried walking in the water but started sinking rapidly, foul language started coming out of my mouth. "How the hell am I going to free this future BEAST?" Finally the Pike jumped out of the water and spit the lure, SHEEEEEEEEESH! I'm thankful this fish was able to work with me to get that lure out of her mouth. I would've eventually jumped in the dirty water if I had to but that will be saved for another adventure. LOL!!! Heres a few pics of the sad Pike that needs to see a vet.

TIGHT LINEZ!!!!

P.S. Be nice to my pet Pike fellas!!!

Happy birthday! Looks like you found some great presents. That pike wasn't hurt enough to not hit your lure, I'd say he's got a fighting chance.

Thanx buddy!!! That fish swam off like a champ. Some people really don't know how resilient these fish can be. Tough little guy!

I've caught a 29" with that dead gill hanging out on multiple occasions. They survive for sure. Happy birthday!
