Default Creating your own swimming areas...

So apparently if you want to swim, you simply park illegally and swim on private property or go to a public lake and swim outside the designated beach areas. Basically u do want you want the hell with laws and/or rules.

Spruce Run:

Penwell(Musconetcong River):

Its gotten to be so bad in Penwell this year, they set up concrete barriers. People were actually parking on lawns. Just plain rude. Now they are going to Point Mt and taking that over. Really getting ridiculous.

why don't they just tow the cars of the people who are illegally parked? instead of blocking off access to a fishing spot. hopefully those barricades are gone by fall.

had this problem at one of the nice reservoirs around here... all it took was a little enforcement action on the part of the town PD and DFW COs and it's pretty much calmed down

Over the past 2 weeks, I've seen kids on 3 different occasions jumping from the bridge into the water on the north end of monksville. It's summer, I get it, but there's plenty of places with real beaches to swim.

.

Spruce Run was chaos today.
After the park was filled to capacity and the gate was closed, the picnickers started filling up all the parking lots on Van Syckle Road. They set up their barbeques and started wading in the water. The parking lot between the fishing pier and the park entrance even had some kind of DJ set-up blasting Spanish music. It could be heard across the lake.

The park employees were trying to keep people from swimming outside the swimming area, but they were just overwhelmed by the massive crowds popping up everywhere. I saw some guy get out of a white parks department car and walk along the shoreline by the boat ramp telling people to get out of he water.

It seems to be getting worse every year.

Arrests, fines, confiscation of everything from charcoal to cars, and in cases where appropriate calling I.N.S. Biggest problem is insufficient manpower to conduct adequate enforcement.

I've pretty much have seen this everytime I have been to the lake since the end of June. Time for the old fecal content test on the lake.......that usually will shut it down to swimming.

Pretty much the same thing all over the state this time of the year.
The STATE PARKS pack up really quickly & are usually @ capacity by 10:30.

Was @ YANDA early SATURDAY am & got off the water by 10:30.
The park was closed as I rolled out, a huge line waiting to get in & people walking into the park after parking along GWL TP illegally. The look of desperation was on the people's faces & I felt bad for them. A lot of the people were probably heading next to CLINTON road to try & find a place to cool off. I am sure that the WATERSHED rangers were waiting for them to write some hefty tickets.

MONKSVILLE was an absolute ORGY OF PEOPLE SWIMMING BY THE LAUNCH RAMPS, WALLOWING IN THE WATER & FLOATING IN THEIR DICK'S YAKS. So many kayaks, inflatables it was staggering.

Not much better SUNDAY night either, hoards still wallowing on the ramps @ 7:30....we need the PARK RANGERS to get there ticket books & start writing.
They have no problem hassling boaters preparing to launch but do not seem so ready to confront the masses of rule breakers...guess it easier to go for the low hanging fruit that has a low probability of confrontation.

All the above is why I hit the water at 5 AM or after 8 PM during the summer. It's just too frustrating to deal with the crowds.
