Default Fluke 2015

Is a disaster. Party boats catching little, charter boats doing poorly. Since when on a six pack charter is 6 keepers a good day?

The man is telling the truth. It can be frustrating for everyone. There's not one captain I know who said it was a good season, SO FAR. I believe it will get better before they leave inshore waters. Then the commercial boats can clean up on all the undersize fish we threw back. Vicious circle to say the lease.

With the bigger size limit now in effect for quite a few years and proven the majority of fish 18" and up are females. Maybe we starting to feel the effects of killing mostly mommy's that make are future stock!!!

I totally agree with this. It was only a matter of time.

Areas north of us are having terrific years, the stocks are fine. New Jersey was never as good as up north as is, and on top of that we have so many more boats fishing the same areas daily. The same areas daily get drifted over and drifted over again and again. These fluke out here have no time to breathe without seeing another presentation in their line of sight.

If you plot a 70' party boat on a map of Raritan Bay, 100 of them would still be infinitesimal to the total area.

There are lots and lots of square miles of flats for those fluke and there just are not the numbers that there used to be.

You can thank the commercial fishery for that.

You can blame it on whatever you would like, water temps and the like, but bottom line is the fluke fishery sucks. Pick some fish here and pick some fish there, but for the most part the fishery is far from good. I have no idea how the Fishing Industry is going to survive. It`s scary.
