..didn't find the right one :/
Originally today was supposed to be our first mid-range mahi trip, but our charter cancelled a few days ago due to family related issues so I got a last minute crew together consisting of some of our regular fluke tourney team (Fred, Brian, Ryan and Brian M filled in for Larry Flukemaster) - I even got to fish all day
Set out to fish some spots where we've seen some bigger fish, and found keepers and shorts and some nicer 22-23" fish, but nothing big. We then went back to where we had some on Friday and had a very good pick of short and keeper fluke for the next few hours. We were able to pick at least a keeper on every drift and with the short life the bite was good - but still no good ones came up.
Bounced around thereafter, fishing some hangs, only to find more of those 19-21" keepers.
For the day Fred had 9 keepers, and Brian had 6, the rest of us picked up the pieces. We easily had a boat limit (5 man) of 25 fluke - biggest was just under 5# taken by Brian.
Nice day with a great crew, back at it in the AM.
