best northern NJ bass lake?

What do ppl think is the best northern NJ (public) lake for bass fishing? (and I basically fly-fish with poppers, on cloudy days.) Ppl say that bass population in Monksville, Echo Lake, and some others has been thinned out by muskies. [If you want your answer to be private between us, you could do it in code, e.g., “eenwood-gray”, or “anistear-cay”.]

They don't exist in NJ. NJ F&G doesn't care about bass guys or bass lakes. Only if you fish for some species of trout do they care. IF there were bass lakes in the past, they're probably now filled with trout.

POINTVIEW RESERVIOR IN WAYNE

You can get day passes from the JERSEY CITY WATER COMMISH for shore fishing. It used to a golf course but they flooded it to create the reservoir.

Used to fish it as a kid thru college days. Used to kill the GIANT LM in there on top water @ night (jitterbugs). Not deep, most of it is shallow enough to wade & fly fish. There are pike in there too.

Probably the biggest under fished gem in north Jersey.

Muskies don't thin out the bass population in any lake... it's a fallacy created by those who don't understand them...

Bass are everywhere find weeds now, find bass, they are in every lake. Fish the thick cover, that's my best advice.

So true...MUSKY do the lakes a service by culling out the weak/diseased fish & only enhance the possibility of catching a true trophy sized bass. You would shocked to what MUSKY are eating most of the time...really small stuff for the bulk of their diet. But they oppurtunists & at times will eat whatever they can fit in their mouths-ducks, muskrats, small children...

IF THIS STATE WANTS TO INCREASE trophy SIZED FISH then we need to set slot limits & enforce it.

Not anymore- they stopped all fishing there last year. Ya gotta sneak through the fence hole at night w/ a kayak now
