Default Changes urged for Land & Water Conservtion Fund

Congress considers changing the Land & Water Conservation Fund to focus more on access and maintenance instead of buying land. What do you think? http://www.examiner.com/article/land...-congress-told

That's a good bit of info Newsman, thanks for posting it.

Personally I feel there should be a balance between acquisition and access/maintenance. Seems to me common sense would dictate ensuring access is or will soon be available on any parcel of land being considered for purchase/preservation before a deal is struck and money changes hands, and the cost of such should be included and taken into consideration when determining the total cost of an acquisition.

Of course there will be exceptions to this process at times, partciularly where critically environmentally sensitive areas are concerned. Obviously in such cases public access would a be minor, secondary concern to preventing potential destruction and/or development of such areas.

Unfortunately I'm too often guilty of allowing logic and common sense to cloud my thinking when it comes to the workings of government! One would think I'd know better at my age.
