![]() When I started bottom-fishing I clamped all of my reels for added security.
Then I realized it was unnecessary, it was uncomfortable and inconvenient. Tile-fishing is different as reels are a lot more expensive, the fish are generally bigger, stronger and potentially much bigger and stronger. There is also more strain on the rod & reel due to the extreme depth, extreme size of the sinkers / jigs along with the strain due to the previously mentioned fish. All of that being said, do you guys clamp or not? Thanks! JD |

![]() Not necessary as long as the reel seat firmly secures the reel.

![]() If it comes with the reel, I use it...you know the old adage--an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure....It's not really necessary but it makes me feel better with reel clamped for offshore fishing...
