![]() After debating on where to go Round Valley or Spruce decided to head over to Spruce Run.
Water is still low but picked up from the last time I saw pictures that someone posted up here. Time Fished: 7:30pm till 11pm Bait Used: Shiners, nightcrawlers and eel. Fished around the camp area. Not a lot of mud to go through to which I was thankful. As usual best time to fish was from 8 till 11 pm. First hooked was a small white catfish (thanks to all who pointed out a difference to me) on a shiner on a slip bobber about 30 feet from the shore. After that action on slip bobbers pretty much was hard to come by and managed to loose about 4 solid bytes. But action on slip sinker rigs picked up. Next to come out was a small American eel a little over a foot long. Since he managed to swallow the hook deep he was sacrificed to make more bait for a catfish. Worked like a charm and a bit later solid 2 pounder was caught. Finally around 10 heard my line screaming. This was some more heavier and better than the previous ones. He took of into a hole but there was no where to go only out. Another white cat and solid 4 lbs. And then nothing. Couldn't get a bite to save my life so wrapped it up around 11, 11:30. Total 3 cats and 1 eel. Two were released and bigger one will be enjoyed tonight. No fish porn sorry, no camera. Yours truly, Andre |

![]() An RVTA member reported that over last weekend:
Dive team saw schools (1000’s) of shiners blanketing the bottom @ Ranger’s Cove. Shoreline angler caught & kept an 18 lb. channel cat. |

I know they made an effort this year to stock some shiners for forage there. It wouldn't surprise me if they all died. The water is too clean. it's like an enormous swimming pool. I've heard from boaters on RV talking about seeing an enormous catfish, I guess they weren't exaggerating. Andre, Spruce Run has a good population of catfish. In the summertime, a lot of anglers pursue them in the evenings. On the weekends, the pier looks like a carnival. ![]() .

![]() I am just trying those places out and since I fish only shore lines you know it will take me awhile.
Forgive me if I am wrong but I thought Ranger's Cove was in Round Valley and the 18lbs catfish was caught there. I could be wrong but at least that's what I remember. Yours Truly, Andre |

![]() yea rangers cove is at round valley but if you really want to go hammer time at spruce at night get yourself a couple tubs of chicken livers and trebble hooks and instead of using a barrel swivel use a snap swivel and connect the hook right to the snap after you take a piece of liver and put it over the hook eye so it stays on there and fish the bottom with a 1/2 ounce egg or barrel sinker you will have non stop action at night a lot of fatty cats and bullheads and hybrids also hammer that... i live like 5 mins from spruce so i fish there all the time summer is the best for this technique but it still works now hit me up on here if you have any questions about it or just about spruce in general im going out this afternoon into night to try and find some pike hybrids and cats from shore im always fishing from shore as well for the most part
