![]() Ran with GetANet Sunday morning. Met up with 15FOOTER at the bait shop and on the water soon after... Wouldve been sooner if it wasnt for the local bass masters cloggin up the ramp!
On the move trolling around with minimal action... Few nips here and there. A number of short strikes. We see 15FOOTER off in the distance with his buddy running around the boat. They had some action. We werent so fortunate early on. I wound up with a nice yellow perch eventually. We switched over to live lining shortly after that. They went about doing their thing, too. First spot off a weedbed I pitch a herring out in about 20 ft of water and whammo! I'm on. Good fish. Solid fight as it bulldogged down and had sights on getting into the weeds. Eventually got her boatside and Dale netted her. Sweet! She measured 21"... we got shitty measurement pics though unfortunately. The long fight drained her too. Had to work her a bit before she cruised off... Was nice to see her wave goodbye. We had a few more smaller fish in that area after that. Dale had a 15" LMB and I had one or two more small SMBs from 12-15". We moved a few mins after that... Next spot, Dale's turn. This time a few feet deeper. Pitches out his herring and not even 5 seconds after it hit the water line started flying off his free-spooled reel. Hook set, game on... Nice fight--same thing, bulldogging down for cover. He gets her boatside and I netted her. Real nice fish, fatter than mine but a bit shorter in length. We didnt weight or measure but it looked to be about 4 lbs. That was all the big fish for the day. Everything else was on the 17" & smaller side. I also added 2 additional giant perch I added to the tally. I think we had 10 or 11 bass, SMB and LMB and 3 big yellow perch. Not a bad day on the water! 15FOOTER was doing battle with a fuggin gigantic pickerel towards the end of the day. Thing was thrashing like a crazy! Fish had to be 24"+ from what we saw... They prob had a comparable, if not better, day then we did. HERRING IS KING! Catch em' up... here's some porn. Not sure if I should enter the SMB into the contest. What do you think Gary?

![]() Nice fish Bros! The smallies r gettin skinny nowdayz. Herring is definitely king, and i have noticed that the BIG smallies only eat the BIG herring.
What kind of hooks and size do you use for livelining? |

![]() Thanks guys. We've been doing rather well so far this year. Hoping to keep the mojo going!
Birdman, we were using #4s octopus hooks thru the nostrils. I'll go up to #2s and #1s if the baits are bigger. I'll use Gamis, Owners, Daiichis, and VMCs. Any hook that digs into my thumb nail as I drag it across will suffice! I don't like to make them struggle with too big of a hook more than they already are... especially with water temps going up and herring being so delicate. And yea, they were long and lean. Big difference from a month ago when they were faaaaaaaaaaat!
