FISH TANK - Mon, Tues and Wed Recap
Sorry for the late reports gang, but there hasn't been much to talk about. Capt. Tommy and Capt. Ed had the boat out on Mon and Tues and the fishing stunk to say the least. I think each trip had about 15-20 sea bass and a few fluke...nothing like the catches we were putting together a couple of weeks ago.
I joined Capt. Tommy for our open boat trip yesterday with Blackfish Doug, his son-in-law Matt, Frank and his two sons John and Tim. We started out sea bassing and managed to put about 20 fish in the box on the first drop. We had high hopes for the rest of the day, but it was not to be. Every other drop after that only produced a couple of fish. We made a lot of wiggles and read a ton of fish under the boat, they just would not bite. With a few hours left, we decided to try our hand at fluking and that wasn't great either. With the exception of a double-header of keepers skillfully landed by Matt along with another nice flattie he put in the box on the next drift, it was all shorts, birds and skates. Final tally for the day was just over 30 sea bass and 3 fluke up to 3 1/2lbs. Even thoguh the fish did not cooperate, you couldn't have asked for a better day on the water and a great group of guys that we hope to see again soon! ~Capt. Kevin Hutnik
