Default LH topwater assault!

Got to the big lake around 6 last night and unfortunately, was greated by tons of recreational boaters, jet skis and lots of wake. Made sure to keep cool and "hydrated" til the sun went down. Played around with herring and picked up a quick Hybrid on light tackle around 7pm. Things started to calm down and the F18s and spooks came out. My buddy picked up two nice Walleye right at sunset deep in the weeds. Shortly after, the topwater assault began. Had a nice mix of Hybrids and Walleye with some vicious blowups til about 1am when we packed it in. The fish are EVERYWHERE, as we had action in pretty much every spot we hit. For me, this is the pinnacle of the freshwater fishing year, heart attack fishing at its finest.

NICE stripes! Ive heard a lot about 9 and 10lbers out at Hopatcong is this true? If so wonder why ours don't get as big in spruce. If we get an 8lber that's a trophy!

My PB was between 9-9.5lbs caught in the beginning of May. There's a 9lb9oz'er that was just put up on knee deep club's website recently too. I think the club record is somewhere near 10lb14oz.

Ok, I was out last night with my fishing buddy G-man. We caught some small stuff and one nice large mouth. We stayed out till midnight and fish were popping all over the place but I could NOT get them to bite!! Tried everything -- live herring, topwater stickbaits of all sizes. It was frustrating because at night there were fish literally popping right next to the boat and I could not get a hit! How are you getting those fish to hit?

Thats a great Bass and an even better picture!

No real secrets, just fan casting an area where I'm pretty sure there's fish, and right now thats pretty much every shallow weedy area and cove. If you hear a big blowup that you know isnt just a herring, cast passed it and bring the lure through where it happened. Sometimes the bigger fish wont move in til a little later when the daytime temps are hot, so midnight may not have been late enough. How big were the lures you were throwing? Keep at it, the lake is too on fire not to!
