Default Another Body Of Bass Invades The Bay

The bass we caught yesterday had sea lice.Fresh in from the ocean along with more and more bunker.Best run in Raritan Bay in years!Live, dead, heads, chunk it did not matter it all worked.Released the bigger ones and they kept a couple for the table.I like it!

Hasnt been like this mid 2000's... great times....

Actually was scratching my chin thinking Sandy may have had something to do with it...

Like the intense rain / floodings & surges / may have done something with the water, the bottom, pushing out of chemicals in the backbays rivers and streams etc... waste(even though billions of sewage got dumped in - who knows maybe the linesiders like our shit).... just had me scratching my chin here.. if Sandy DIDNT happen, would we be having the same spring run...???

Did the structure on the bottom make them turn in????? or maybe their is no real answer and it's just the way the chip were suppose to fall for this years spring run...

Nice going Capt. Sal. I'll be out there Friday on my brother in-laws boat chasing some stripers.

I would, if I didn't have plans already.

Was wondering the same thing. I think the fall run was not hit hard by fishermen in general. I don't really even remember days strung together of consistent catches in the fall after the storm, let alone a lot of catches of the bigger fish. I'm willing to bet the storm drove the migrating schools off shore, away from fishing and netting pressure and let them navigate to their wintering grounds. They had little pressure while fattening up and the young had a good chance to grow. Was probably a great thing for the stocks and this year seems to be a normal and on schedule migration. Unfortunately, I am missing it all! Being a broke teacher and working 3 other jobs hasn't allowed me any time to get near the shore.

Thanks Capt. Sal for the great trip on Sunday. Arms still sore. Best striper fishing trip I've had. Hope to fish with you again very soon.

I think the slow warm up has a lot to do with it. The bay got so warm early last year that the bass bypassed the bay and stayed in cooler ocean waters. That also allowed a banner bunker crop to multiply in the bay last season as they were basically unmolested all summer.
