Talking Friday May 3 shad

Went to meet Sam Melendez off Rt. 611 in PA to fish th Delaware for shad. It was a beautiful part of the river. We each hooked up a couple of times and landed some fish. Not bad for hitting the river in the afternood after work.

Default Re: Friday May 3 shad

Same day, wade fished Worthington 3 to 6:30 PM. River low & clear. Perched on a rock, I could see schools of shad swimming by. Largest was about 10 - 15 fish, then 3 or 4 and single shad, too. Dead sticking off that rock with a flutter, landed a big roe. Reeling in through a school of 4 I saw one hit, and landed that buck. I could see them passing over a large flat rock in waist deep water. So, I stood right there, with the flutter dangling doing its thing. All shad swam right around it, & my calves, uninterested. A big one, paused, briefly & then continued upstream. Some of them were very, very small,......shaped slightly different,....almost like little gizzard shad. Pretty cool being able to see them.
