![]() Been trying for trout at Dahnert's Lake in Garfield. I'm getting skunked every time along with many other people. They are in there and there are also a few decent breeders jumping around. I've tried everything from salmon eggs, corn, and worms. I also had some coupons and gift cards to Dick's and purchased quite a few different spinner colors, sizes, and brands. But overall I got absolutely nothing but a small bullhead. Kind of frustrating since I live right around the corner haha. I'm going to visit my friend DTS and try Hamilton Fire Park Pond in Monmouth county. Anyone ever fish it or does it get slammed because of the pond's size?

![]() I work in Lodi and fish the river sometimes on my lunch break. A Garfield Police Officer saw my buddy and I unpacking our fishing gear on Thursday and said he watched the Trout getting stocked there either Wednesday or Thursday morning, I forget which day, so they are definetly in there. The guys at Meltzer's fish there frequently, they may be able to assist you. Lots of Bass in there too from what I've heard...

![]() Yea that is one many there were telling me. Meltzer's has told me the same but I have only pulled cookie cutter bass out of there. I've tried on Sunday with a brown "worm color" Senko for bass and nothing either. Gonna keep trying though and we'll see what happens. Which river are you referring to the saddle river or the passaic? Ever try fishing by the Elmwood park high school from shore?

![]() there have been lots of big insect hatches happening all over the past week. all the trout that i have caught have been completely full of stoneflies. if you have a flyrod, now's the time to use it. if not maybe try something smaller or you can tie on a nymph fly as a dropper rig to a small jig and give that a shot.

![]() I figure they were look for flies. I do not own a fly rod and don't plan on learning anytime soon lol. However, I definitely will try that and see if that may work. I been trying to simulate that by using small rooster tail spinners and reeling them in closer to the top of the water. You think I can put a fly on with a few small split shots will work as well or will it sink to quickly? Thanks for the tip!
