Default seperating a rod?

i think i aready put a post about this but i tried all the tips and caling st croix who told me put it in a walk in box overnight. which i am a chef who owns a walk in box which i tried that twice and it also wont work. the rod is a 10 ft mojo surf and is like brand new no corrosion or anything. i think it is just suction from dampness but who knows. anyone have anymore ideas on how to get it apart. i have two cars one being a tahoe and one a grand marquis, the grand marqis gets double the gas mileage and would like to use the rod

try putting a hot wet rag/towel around the joint to heat up/expand the female end and a cold one on the male side---might work.....

Probably the better idea...... over freezing it!!! The heat will help it expand some, while the cold is gonna do just the opposite.

I have used a torch for this myself on repairs and re-wraps for customers, but I do not suggest it for the 1st timer. You can easily damage the blank.

Try a nice hot rag.

Does this compress the butt section some how?? You have my interest here.

Also, to the OP, is it a tip over butt ferrule? Or a butt over tip ferrule system?

This is why I tell people do nto buy a butt over tip rod. No matter how much they cost, they are an engineering sign that its a cheaper design. ( unless your getting into high end rods that have 2 different lengths. Same equal section lengths, buy tip over butt rod)

This behind knee method simply creates a even straight powerful pull via legs which are much stronger than separating your arms in pull position on any rod!
It does not yo my knoedge compress anything just offers a lot more power in a straight line pull !
Works almost 100% of time !

Had the same problem couple of times with flyrods. Tried all the tricks only thing that worked was using a can of compressed air for cleaning computers etc. Put the nozzle on and spray up into and all around the joint. Then twist it .Also much easier to grip the rod to twist with rubber /latex gloves or they make those rubber pads for opening jars . Got the air from radio shack if that matters.
