well, i had to get the skunk eventually
This morning i met up with the members of the Wild Carp Club of NJ for a raritan river session. tried some new homemade baits but came up empty handed in 4 hours on the bank. Same went for everyone else until right before i left to take care of other things, one guy hooked and landed a decent 10lber. Glad someone got something, still a nice time with some new people, plus getting a club t-shirt

.
Still had the urge for carp so i brought my baits to the millstone for sight fishing. every now and then i would come across schools of 5-10 fish cruising the shallows, all between 5-25lbs. But casting my bait at them, they would ignore it then swim elsewhere, even if i gave them some free offerings...so i dug up a worm, put it on a small hook w/ bobber, tossed it out at a school and something took it a couple inches under the water. Set the hook, just flew back into a tree behind me, nothing i'm not used too...could have been a sunny but i saw one of the carp dart away after the hookset, as if it was in its mouth and i spooked it. i probably might have got them with floating breadballs.
Dark storm clouds and bad wind approached so i went to the car but there was no rain. Decided to tie on a tube for smallies in the canal. First cast, hookup then dropped it halfway in...15 minutes later, same thing, but this one splashed the surface. it was what could have been a nice smallie...

nothing for the next hour so i headed out. wish i coulda had the same luck i've been having for the past week.
