![]() I've been using standard worm hooks to rig my 10" ribbon tail worms weedless Texas style (unweighted). About one out of ten however are coming in gut hooked as the bass inhales the worm. I've been successful at either removing the hook with my 12" forceps or cutting it immediately and returning them to the water seemingly unharmed (when I return to the pond there are none floating). For the first time a week ago one didn't make it despite a twenty minute attempt at revival. It really bummed me out so I'm looking into switching to a different hook type. Does anyone know if the offset or EWG worm hooks are designed like circle hooks to slide out and catch the lip? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks. hook types- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...&storeId=10151 Last edited by tycomps; 08-25-2012 at 02:57 PM.. |

![]() successful tackle test today. rigged the old faithful 10" ribbon tail worm on
an EWG worm hook and picked up a chunky 4lber that ran with it a bit before I set the hook. it fought like a banshee with several aerials and the hookset was perfect, right in the corner of the mouth and came right out with a twist. |

![]() I go with g-locks. Best hookup ration IMO.

![]() For worm fishing, including superflukes that are my personal favorite, I use Tru-Turn hooks. Nearly every bass is hooked in the side of the mouth. Have fished them for years and are my favorite

![]() I'll use a 1/0 or 2/0 depending on the size of the worm I'm fishing. As for red hooks I tend to stay away. I want te fish to see the worm and nothing else.
