Default Roberts Street Dam removal report

Decided to check out the progress of the dam removal and take some photos. For you guys that have been there before that big blow down
that was just a few feet down stream from the dam in the middle of the hole is still there

The dam however is totally gone. The upstream area by the parking lot looks like a desert.
The area is totally fenced off and a security guard is on duty

As usual the litterbug fishermen are still there

It will be interesting to fish this area in the fall.

Just luv the litterbugs How hard is it to bring a bag with you and take your trash home??? I bet these same aholes wouldn't like it if I threw my garbage on their lawn. The state, counties, townships and land trusts spend tens of millions preserving lands for open space - lands that allow us to fish - and this is how we thank them. I think more hidden cameras would help or even just signs SAYING 'area under surveillance' might deter them.

Have been wanting to take a trip down there to see the progress (and fish). We last fished there near the end of June. Cool pics.

Pack in/Pack out! Get sick of looking at and picking up other peoples trash!

I was there a few weeks ago when the water was very clear. I caught 4 LMB in a little over an hour (all were small). I fished from the parking lot entrance and was able to walk up the river in sandals. (Look at your 4th picture) The water level is very low but now you have access to go up stream from there. This is were I was able land the 4 bass. Like I said very small but action is action.

I was there yesterday as well, just walking with my Daughter though. The water looks the same as it did before, just no damm. And same trash all over the place. Why would these morons bring foam coolers and just leave them there? Where there is shoreline fishing access you see trash all over and it gives ALL fisherman a bad name...........*******s.

I had about 20 minutes to fish upstream from the damm where the parking area is. I had a small pole with grubs and was catching 1 Sunny after another but caught 2 Bass in the mis as well, maybe 10 inches. It's fun with it's 4lb test and a very light pole.

I never understood the litterbugs. Leaving all your garbage behind in a natural area is such a spiteful thing to do.

It's more than just laziness. It's a passive-aggressive form of acting out.

The littering is awful at Surprise Lake. Some people use latex exam gloves when they fish with chicken livers and then just leave EVERYTHING behind when they are done fishing. The entire bank is littered with sytrofoam earthworm containers, the packages from lures and hooks, and empty soda bottles.
