Dundee falls Dam... finally made it to the other side..

Finally made over to the other side on the bottom of the Dundee falls dam and I had a blast... Fished from 7-830pm and caught 14 smallmouths (ranged from 1/2lb to 2 lb) and 3 giant crappies (personal bests on all 3 crappies )

I didnt measure the length of the crappie's but Id estimate 12-13" and 1 1/2 lbs each or more give or take a few oz's.... they were super thick... looks like they were eating good... caught them all on weightless 5" senko texas rigged

Be careful going to that other side by the Dundee. That area is actually supposed to be off limits because of the pipes. I believe the passaic water commission might have something to do with it in regards to protecting the area. I have heard of a few people who were taken away in handcuffs from fishing on that side. Then again it is all hear say so if someone wants to elaborate and chime in id be happy to know as well.

Its true... it is off limits but.... they cant do anything if you crossed the river.. and if you want to get technical you can stand in an inch of water and there is nothing the police can do cuz the actual water is public..... Anyway... I didn't get a chance to cross the pipes and fish in the falls... I fished the pool area under the giant pipes... I also noticed that there is a retaining pond above the pipes which appears to be loaded with fish....

Also, I noticed some giant fish (I couldnt tell what they were) attempting to jump up the falls... anyone know?

Probably carp. I've caught a bunch right out of the base of the Little Falls falls. When conditions permit.

Not true. Only the water itself is public domain. The river bed can be owned. IOW, its okay as long as your not touching the bottom(like in a boat). Its silly but that's NJ law for you. Many examples of this in NJ where you have a nice trout stream flowing through private land. Even if you access the stream via public land, once you enter posted land, that streambed is also private land as well. Pa has the navigable river law whereby any river(like the Lehigh) designated as a navigable is !00% public both the water and bed of the river. Not sure that applies to NJ rivers. Personally I don't see how one can own a stream. Its like owning air or clouds.

It's watershed property. Clifton Police regularly patrol the area down there. A friend had their car towed from outside the gates not too long ago. They will mess with you.

Alright, this is literally 2 minutes from my house. Gunna try it out. What tackle you recommend for there? I never fish rivers but want to.

If you have to have this conversation, is it worth the risk for a few fish. There are millions of places to fish in NJ and bordering states, why take a chance if there's a safety risk or you might lose your equipment. Crazy!
