Default passaic river, mud or rocks?

scouted a few spots this morning, some were rocky and some were muddy. fished for an hour and caught a medium pike at one of the muddy stretches. curious as to what others preferences are, mud or rock bottom?

Seems like there is mud the entire length, but the smallies and other baitfish definetly like the rocky bottom, as it holds heat better. I have caught a few pike in the rocky sections, but they seem to hold to structure regardless of the bottom.

I would say that about 90% of the areas I fish have a muddy bottom, and most of the weed beds are from muddy areas. So almost all my fish come from muddy areas. There are a few clear sandy areas that seem to always hold a fish or two though.
