Talking Passaic River 6/21

So I've caught a lot of PIKE out of 1 stretch of river over the past several years, but those fish have left that stretch due to floods and maybe lack of forage. I was fishing from the Great swamp down to the Passaic River park on Snyder Ave for years, lots of Pike caught up to 40 inches with even bigger lost. Time to move on, so yesterday and today I pounded a new stretch of river that I havn't put much time into. I found the silly little PIKE and plenty of other fish for them to feed on carp, largemouth, gills and some other small fry swimming around. Between yesterday and today I landed 14 Pike, however i didn't find anything huge in this stretch. All Pike were between 16-27 inches, no follows from any big Pike, many were missed. I can tell you that this stretch is STACKED with PIKE!!! Im glad i found them again, walking the banks of the mighty Passaic aint easy! Covered about 15-17 miles of shore line in recent months, Im back on there trail!!! GOOD TIMES, TIGHT LINES!!!

Awesome job man!! I thought having a boat would open new opportunites, but you really tracked em down. From the banks no less. Way to go.........

Yeah buddy! Any multi-pike day is a good day. Glad you tracked 'em down.

I watch the weather like a friggin lunatic. If it had been hot every night for the past month I don't know if I would've gone for Pike at all. Fact is, it hasn't been over 60 degrees at night too often this year. Although we had a mild winter, the overnight temps being in the 50,s for the most part is helping the fishery I believe. Just my opinion, i am no pro, thats for sure. Go get em brotha, theres plenty of PIKE waiting for you. TIGHT LINES!!!

Hit the Passaic this morning in hopes of pike fishing at 4:00am. went to a spot I found on google earth that was secluded with parking and looked productive. got there and shined my high beams on the water, everything looked good. got out of my car and noticed a patrol car backed into the woods next to me. figured before I unload everything I better go tell him what I was doing there at 4:00am. got all the way to his drivers side door before I could see in the window and the guys out like a light! now I'm thinking I don't want this guy waking up with me standing next to his window so I do the soft backsteps away from his car and quietly get back in mine. I'm trying to decide whether to fish or not but end up scrapping the idea figuring he's still snoozing, never new I was there, and if he woke up he'd be busted and not happy. next time I go at dusk, not dawn!
