Talking Raritan River Smallies 6/6

Hit the raritan at nevius today around noon. Found some smallies there but nothing big. After catching all the bronzebacks and giant rock bass i could get from that area i proceeded to walk downstream in search of new water. Mistake, all i found was a shallow wasteland. Nice day for a longgggggg walk. Headed over to the finderne area and found some more smallies, 6 inch bluegills and more of them giant rock bass. I keep seeing big fish jumping downstream from where i was, a little bit more walking and ill have a picture of 7 or 8 lb smallie from the RR. Wanted to walk down to see what was going on but ran out of time. All smallies were feisty today but nothing big, fish ranged from 9 to 15 inches. Heres a couple pics. GOOD TIMES!!! TIGHT LINES!!!

Sweet! I used to fish the stretch downstream from Nevius a lot, it used to have lots of eddys and deep runs. It has flattened out a lot in the last several years. Used to be able to catch all the smallies, rock bass, sunnies, and crappie you wanted out of there, with a few lunkers too.

Take my canoe down the rivah. That "wasteland" you speak of has a whole different look when you are floating. You will quickly find holes and deep pockets as you go.

Love some smallies. Gotta say, the rock bass have been out in force. I've caught more lately than the last few years combined.

I was just upstream from you at roberts street with similiar results plus 3 bows. One thing I'm getting tired of with the raritan is the snakes, everywhere I go I see snakes big ones and little ones.
