2 year bottom paint

has any one used the multi year bottom paint? i used it last year and it doesnt look any different than any other spring, it looks like crap and it doesnt look like it would work at all for this year. im going to splash the boat this friday without new paint and see what happens.will be pulling it for road trips to the bayshore once stripers get going so if it doesnt work i can paint it then. any input?

I used Interlux Micron CSC for years and always went two seasons, last year I used the Interlux ACT (free gallon of paint, only had to pay for the labor at the marina), it only lasted 1 season (barely) and now I have to have it painted again before I splash next week. Moral--Something free cost me more than if I did it right the first time!

I had my bottom soda blasted 2 seasons ago, put 3 coats of sealer and 3 coats of micron multi year, going on 3rd season bottom still looks good with some minor touch ups.

Been using Interlux multi sesaon for 4 years now.... All I do every year is touch up some bear spots.....

Works great and no sanding.....

I think the key to success with the multi-year paint is surface preperation. If the paint/hull your going over is not in very good condtion to start with the new paint will not last as long. I recondtioned my hull 8 years ago. Scraped and sanded to bare fiberglass, 3 coats of barier coat, 1 coat of red, and then applied 3 coats of black csc extra. When I see the red showing through I know where I have to touch up and I apply a cheater coat to the water line every year. I'm not saying you have to go to the extremes I did but in 8 years I've only had to paint the entire hull one time. Also, take care when power washing. Use the medium pressure tip on your power washer so you're only cleaning the slime off and not blasting the paint off.
