Default Roe filled worms?

Do any of u eat the roe of your fish?

My Mrs enjoys eating the roe of fish (after all it is caviar) especially if they are large sacs.

However in this specimen of bluefish roe, I think I see some worms. Anyone can confirm that as well?

I discarded the whole batch but never seen that before. And they are not blood vessels becuz other batches of roe from the same bluefish trip has completely clear and yellow sacs with none of these purple looking things.*

If I wanted to send these to a lab anyone know where to send them to? (I'm trying to upload better quality photos but can't seem to)

Perhaps there is a department/lab at the state university in New Brunswick that could be of assistance.

i emailed NJ DFW a number of years back about some worms i found in a perch. i included pictures and a biologist got back to me pretty quickly about what it was (they were big nematodes, the things on that roe are probably similar)
