Trolling for Mahi
Took a ride out to the edge of the MH and trolled the pots for Mahi. We didn't catch any Mahi but caught a few Bonita and even a nice sized Blue Runner! Water temp was 72 and water clarity was very clean. Saw a few big sea turtles and a few whales to top the day off. All in all a great day! Tight Lines!

Thanks for the report. Really surprised we’re not seeing more Mahi around with the near perfect conditions we’ve had for a while now..

Saw lots of baby mahi far out eastern canyons two weeks ago but only trolled up one. Would have thought they would be all over the lobster pots out there in 70 degree water temps. Thousands of flying fish too and a good amount of squid.

Just throw chunks. Nothing better than a handful of butterfish or squid chunks and a special piece with a circle hook buried in it.
I also drop a half ballyhoo with an egg sinker in the chin straight down under the schooling chickens to often times find the bigger bulls and females. We do this with washed out baits soaked in the butterfish chunk juice. This has worked really well for me over the years. Rig it with the hook point barely exposed.
