This article says they want to make the Hudson canyon sanctuary.

A brief perusal of the article states they will NOT close down the Canyon to fishing but rather to oil, gas and mineral drilling.

Whatever the decision, human impact on natural resources of the earth is causing it our fish dwindle. I personally think instead they should shutdown commercial fishing.

Craig, don't be so fast to blame the comms for dwindling resources. The legal boats are not the problem. It's the ones who don't follow the rules both rec and comm. There are illegal boats harvesting on a commercial scale that are not getting caught. Foreign fleets rape our waters unmolested. Or what about the sportier taking 20 Stripers over limit nightly for profit in the Raritan.

So quick to deny a man's right to make a living. Rolls off the tongue so easily, doesn't it?

No need to worry, with these fuel prices very few will be making the trip out there.

Actually i Think most are still going. Hard to get Tuna out of your system
Talked to a few and their plans are unchanged if / when the fish show up.
Even inshore top boats haven't raised prices YET
