Columbia (Paulinskil) dam project comeplte and open
Cool stuff, I've been waiting to check out the Paulinskill in this area ever since the volunteer cleanup some years ago. The river looked fun where the lake used to be, and wanted to try fishing the old dam ever since seeing it.
"The Columbia dam removal project is complete and the project area is again open for recreation following additional welcomed improvements to the area. NJDEP Fish and Wildlife would like to take this opportunity to thank the numerous project partners for all their time, effort, and resources put towards this monumental project. Partners include: The Nature Conservancy, US Fish and Wildlife Service, NRCS, American Rivers, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, NJ Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership, and Toms of Maine. NJDEP’s Office of Natural Resource Restoration funded a significant portion of the project. 10 miles of river were reconnected, two dams and a powerhouse removed, and 1.5 miles of stream habitat were restored as part of the project. We thank you for your patience during this important project." If i get around to this I will try and post pictures galore (hopefully some fish) |

This is awesome! I'll definitely check it out with you sometime
Is the area they're talking about where Lake Paulinskill is/was? Or is this a different stretch? |

That dam used to hold some serious fish. Shad are definitely up the river now. Check the closest upstream holes for other migratory species.
