Default stick with your plan

Headed back out to the tuna grounds yesterday, Tuesday 25th. Left a little later than we wanted...broke the inlet in flat seas at 4AM - on the grounds by 5:40 AM.
We caught one 40# yft on the jig as soon as we stopped. Sand eels still there - lots of tuna chicks working the area as well. Fishing got real quiet for a few hours - we switched our tactics a bit and it paid off. We went 5 for 15 on Yellows all between 35# and 45# - combination of jigging and bait. We did lose a few very large fish on poppers too. Our key to success... we didnt quit, worked the area, and the tuna eventually turned on. We knew they were there. Also saw a few massive rays under the boat and a few times, dozens of medium sized rays schooled up with some tuna mixed in. We also caught some massive Albies - with 2 of them around 25# +. Most boats out there zeroed out including some private charters that are on the grounds every day. I suspect everyone including our boat would have done better if there was some sort of drift. It was practically non existent. Some had 1-2 fish.... The albies certainly have moved into the area. Good or bad...we will see! Tight lines fellas.
