![]() Headed out with Jason on his Reel Unnecessary. Game plan was to jig bluefish for a hour and then go fluking. Once we found the bluefish it was a slow pick. We downsized our jigs from A27s to 17s and that really helped as the bite became more steady. Had a few stretched were it was close to drop and reel. By the time the tide switched the bite quickly faded. No matter, by that time we had combined to catch (& release) @50 bluefish in the #3-6 class-all on light spinning tackle. Since the bite was good (& there was little no drift) we stuck with blue fishing longer than we planned. We did manage a few fluke drifts at the end of the day, where Jason boated a short. We each had only 2 other bites which we both missed before calling it a day.

![]() Nice report Doc!
Surprised going from a 27 to a 17 made a difference. Match the hatch!

Even when we made a few fluke drops at the end of the day, a 2 ounce Spro was straight up & down. |

![]() 5’ #25 mono topshot…..got’em to the boat grab leader and swung ‘em aboard.
Used #75 TA clip to attach jig to leader, retied after every 3 or 4 fish. |
