PB Larry at Assunpink
Woke up this morning and couldnt get out of bed. Didnt roll out until almost 8. With having to be home before noon, I figured I'd keep it local. Headed out to the local pond and about halfway, I had this urge to head back to Assunpink like last week, feeling like there was a quality bass waiting for me. Pulled a quick U'ey and drove the 35 mins. Got there and conditions were beautiful. After about 45 mins of casting around, I focused on this one nook that just screamed fishy. Pounded the same spot for like 10 mins, popping and teasing my jig through it until finally the line went tight and boom she was on. Immediatly got a jump and with that my heart was in my throat. Started my slow back pedal towards land while working the big mama. After a hell of a fight, she was in hand. If you read my last post, I mentioned I had brought my scale into the house to check its accuracy. Of course, i forgot to throw it back im the car and had just got done asking my wife if it was still on the table as i hooked her, and it was. So disappointed I didn't get an official weight on her. Definitely much fatter than my PB and longer so she had to be over 5 pounds 4 ounces. Maybe pushing 6? Feel free to chime in. Pics dont do her justice. I still struggle to get the best pics. Always great to catch, nothing better than pushing your PB. Safe to say Assunpink has me hooked. Went home feelin good and smiled my way through the yardwork. Tight lines men!!
