Keep or Release
Really getting tired of seeing people passing judgement on others for keeping fish. I release most of what I catch but that’s my personal choice and for someone else it’s their personal choice. And what’s the double standard here? Keep some Fluke, Seabass a Sword Fish or some Tuna you get a pass but you take a Striper and you get lectured??
If you want to practice conservation and keep less then your legal limit great and that’s totally up to you. You want to take as many allowed, although I might not, thats your choice not mine. Fact is it’s nice to have choices. Other fact is we as recreational Fishermen have made a lot of sacrifices over the years to rebuild fisheries. If there are enough around we should enjoy the resource and to some that’s catch and release and to others it’s keeping some fish for the table. To each his own!!

Re: Keep or Release
This Fish is to big. That fish is too small Why did you keep that big breeder Don’t use a gaff No treble hooks Circle hooks only Bunker Snags are ok Imaginary 3 mile line No fish in the surf All fish are over the 3 mile line Everyone cuts a short Fluke for strips You’re all guilty ! Watch Seabass float away to cull for a bigger one I think everyone needs to put down the phone, tablet or computer & Go fishing, get a life or get laid.

Re: Keep or Release
Very well said Capt Chad!!! Tree Huggers need to shut their cake holes once in awhile so a guy who gets to go fishing once or twice a year can keep a few for dinner!!

Re: Keep or Release
I kept 3 Stripers during the spring run. I made fish tacos last week with my vacuum sealed Striper fillets from a trip in May. Keep what you can eat and give away! The limits are there for a reason. As for other groups and clubs, I personally can’t stand they’re tree hugger mentality! We fish, we catch, we eat! The others order out. Let me have a Number 2 with cheese and a Diet Coke, LOL! We have the upper hand when it comes to living longer by eating fresh fish. There’s too much politics involved in OUR passion these days. I can’t stand it! Fish, hunt, catch and eat healthy. It’s a positive way to live no doubt! Man, I miss grilling that 24 inch slot fish....... just my 2 cents even if it doesn’t make sense!!!

Re: Keep or Release
Unfortunately i think a lot of people kill just to kill to have the look at me dock shot. Keeping multiple 30-50lb bass to post a picture on social media to impress their friends with a “beat on them today, you shoulda been there!” Caption only to have them sit in the back of the freezer for 3 years and finally get thrown out once they eat one 10 ounce piece and realize this 22 yr old fish tastes like crap and you’d have been more than fine taking one 30” fish for the table, eaten it with your family in one night and been done with it.
C&r for me 95% of the time no matter the species. The 5% aren’t trophy’s |

Re: Keep or Release
It's a personal choice. I always release big tog and fluke. But you have to think of future fishing. Sure after seeing how commercial guys rape the ocean your figure what the hell might as well keep everything but does anyone need to keep more then one big breeder. As for stripers I think there is a macho thing going on for some guys.
