Default Trolling motor battery recommendations

Hey guys. Need recommendations on a new trolling motor battery for my Endura 30, mostly smaller lales calm water on a small jon boat. Not looking to spend Optima money but willing to get quality. Also on where i could potentially pick up from a store rather than wait for it to ship. Thanks guys

it's a crap shoot, i've had ones from walmart last longer than expected and i've had top name brand ones crap out before or right after the warranty runs out...You're better off just getting it from the nearest store to you or most convenient so you can return it easily when it shits the bed, hopefully before the year is up so you can get another free one, cause they are crap haha.

take a look at the following links to understand your needs and then go shopping.

https://www.trollingmotors.net/blogs...motor-run-time

Batteries sold in the U.S. are made by three companies that build them for retailers: Johnson Controls, which supplies more than half of the market; Exide; and East Penn. They are sold under various names and built to the specifications of retailers, so performance can vary. Focus on the amp hour rating and warranty when comparing.

I have had good luck with Interstate. The NJ Bass board is a big fan of Diehard batteries. The Walmart batteries used to be good. There is an interstate battery center in Parsippany

Make sure your charger can support the battery type you purchase (flooded, agm, gel) and charge the battery as soon as you get home. Leaving a battery discharged will kill its life.

i always go for a marine deep cycle built by johnson controls. the last ones i bought happened to be walmart everstart maxx. this is my sixth year on them.

x2 as said above recharge after use and don't run them flat and they will last.

I’m on second season with a VMAX Tanks MR127 with an MK Traxxis 55 in a 10 foot Lowe. No problems, even after hours of full throttle halfway around around Valley and back to dock.

Only issue is battery weighs more than boat. So launching on foot is not an option.

I use a 29 series Walmart deep cycle (in it's 3rd year, charging it at least 150 times a year at the lowest setting), put it on a good charger as soon as I get home and I don't let the battery get lower than 50%. I also use the variable speed Endura and take my time going from place to place. I've bought a number of $200+ batteries including AGM's and they never lasted much more than a year.

Of my current batteries I bought one at BJs and one at Walmart. Both are on their 5th season and still going. No need to spend a bundle.
