Default Big amberjacks, almacos and topwater blackfin (3/30/19)

After several trips getting weathered out, Chrisper and I finally had a beautiful forecast for our offshore trip to North Carolina to fish for amberjack, blackfin tuna, and other species. We would be joining our friends Daryl and Ishmael for the trip. The only complication was that I needed to be back in NJ by 1030am Sunday morning for an important family event. In addition, we couldn't leave until 6pm on Friday after I got out of work. We left at 6 and made the 10hr drive straight and arrived at the boat around 5 after getting breakfast.

The fishing was nothing short of incredible. As many almaco jacks and amberjacks as you wanted on the jig. There were quite a few plus sized amberjacks in the mix as well.

In the afternoon, we focused on blackfin tuna on topwater. Once again, the action was insane, with tuna blowing up on stickbaits.

After we cruised home on glassy seas and cleaned the fish, we hit the road at 8pm. Stopped for a few hours but made it back to NJ by 10am Sunday. Bruised and sore from the trip, but on time!

I'll be heading to Hatteras with the wife and the boat the last week of May for some inshore action, it can't come soon enough. By the look of your pics it was well worth the wait for a great weather window and an epic trip. I can't remember the last time I saw smooth conditions in NC. Congrats on your many catches and thanks for sharing.
