![]() Went out yesterday afternoon looking for some trout. Tried a new spot up in north jersey deep in the woods. Parked my car and walked down to the river to see how it was. The water was high and running quick, but it looked fishable, so I turned around to get my stuff.
I got back to my car and the is when I realized that my keys were locked inside. I was pretty pissed at myself. I had cell service, but not enough to lookup any numbers. Luckily I had called the NJSP a week or two back when my car was hit by ice from a tractor trailer and I lost my roof rack. So I called them up, and after being redirected a bunch of times got in touch with the park police who were able to send someone to help me out. I was so pissed at myself I forgot to ask the officer his name, but I wanted to thank the park police for helping me out. After all was said and done, I had wasted a good amount of the afternoon, so i got in my car and went home. Thinking back on it, the whole thing is pretty funny, just wish I could break this awful skunk streak I’ve had. I’ll get em next time! |

![]() Locking my keys in the car at a remote fishing location is probably one of my biggest fears. I always double (and triple) check that my keys are in my pocket before closing the door. Glad you were able to get some help. The trout will be there when you come back.

![]() That sux. I'm paranoid of doing that too so I follow a set routine where after I turn off the vehicle I get out and the keys immediately go in my pocket not to come out again until I get back from fishing. I then use the power locks to lock the car after I'm finished gearing up.

![]() Back before I had a car with a key fob to lock and unlock the doors. What I did was to carry a spare key in my wallet. That is after I learned the hard way by locking my keys in the car as you did. Things happen but we learn and move on...Charlie

I carry a spare key for my truck in my backpack tackle bag and have so for years. I also do the same for the boat key as that was My learning experience many years ago getting down to the boat and I had left the ignition key on my dresser! |
