Raritan river Rainbow Trout 1/18/19:

First fish of 2019 is a chunky Rainbow from the Raritan river, this guy had some shoulders. Fished the lower section of the river down by Somerset and South Bound Brook, looked great but it was needles and haystacks.
Determined to get my 1st today I went up by Duke Island Park in Bridgewater.
Surprised I got a solid hook up as it hit on the drop. Caught one other but a quick c&r and no pic. Weatherman completely blew the forecast as it was supposed to be P/cloudy and 41*, turned out grey overcast and 36*.
Need the patience of a Saint sometimes when it come to winter time trout fishing. Trout taped out at 22 inches and released, kept the trash.

Sweet big bow! Once this cold weather spell passes i'd love to get out there with you. Grew up fishing the south branch but never really explored the big water further downstream.
