Default Big Tog Caught Twice!

The last 4 minutes of this video recounts my friend Mike Bona's repeat catch of the same miss piggy, 2 years in a row. 2016 she was 24", 11.5lbs, and 2017 she grew roughly 1/2" and gained 1/2 a lb.

A big tog is worth a lot more alive (not in a fish market tank!) than dead...and you stand a shot at catching her again!

Great post Reason and thanks for sharing it here... Like was mentioned in the video at the end, unlike other species, Tog return to the same place every year so catching and releasing the larger ones is something to consider if you also want to fish those same spots every year and want a shot at larger fish...

Great job to Mike Bona on the catch a release!!

Great video Roger, excellent commentary

Our 2018 Tog seasons are completely opposite - you catch 'em too big, I catch 'em too small. But Karma is good - I've been getting them on your Winch
. . and thanks for the Mike B clips, I've followed the story but your new footage & editorial were enlightening.

Haha thanks Larry! Mike was kind enough to share those with me...I remember him catching that beast the second time, amazing story...can't believe that winch is still ticking!

Awesome video, great job C&R. As I’ve aged I rarely keep fish anymore where I fish, relocating to Oregon soon so that may change for a while 👍

Thanks Gerry!

I'm fairly new to tog fishing...but they really hold a special place in my heart. Such intelligent fish, the way they can dismantle your crab and steal your bait while avoiding the hook never ceases to amaze me.

The big old girls (and boys!) really deserve better than to end up in frying pans. The smaller ones are better to eat anyway!
