![]() Nice weather today kicked it up a notch. Hit the river after work, sun was off the water and the bugs were hatching. The bows were all over wet flies like savages. No time for the dainty. Hares ear wets and pheasant tails did the trick. Good flows and good fishing, classic old school wet fly style, swinging down and across, cut back the tippet to 4lb and hang on.

![]() I agree, I hit a river yesterday and the flow was perfect and lots of caddis flies hatching. Was surprised that I only saw one trout feeding on the caddis on the surface. Plenty of action on nymphs!

If you're a beginning fly fisherman or are teaching a beginner now is a great time to get them into fish. Swinging wet flies is easy on beginners, they just need to learn basic roll and flip casts, a little line management, some easy line mends, and they should be into fish. The strikes are pretty obvious too so they won't be overwhelmed learning the sometimes Zen-like nymph tactics. |
