Canyon Tuna Weather Call
Evening -
My pop and I are booked for next Monday's 24hr Gambler canyon run...then I'm booked on the Wednesday 48hr and Friday 24hr. I haven't heard anything from the boat and doubt they'll call it until the day before. Anyone here feeling optimistic? I'm near VA beach, so it's a bit of a drive up...but I'll make due if we sail. |

Re: Canyon Tuna Weather Call
Monday-yes---E 10-20 to (nite)E 10-15, 4-8'. Tues. 5-15 4-7'...
Wed-NOAA doesn't forecast that far ahead but Tues. nite wind shift to NE 5-15 3-6' so might get a bit worse Wed,Thurs,Fri,Sat. I only use NOAA-it's free. Curious, did you find a place for your first & second trip fish to be held? You and your dad catch em up...

Re: Canyon Tuna Weather Call
The post above post is correct. NJ tuna fishing has been horrible. Go to Cape Cod....but I guess you never know, may turn on here

Re: Canyon Tuna Weather Call
Looks like I'll be on stand by and ready to head up Monday morning if no call has been made. The first trip is most important, as it's with my dad...so we shall see. No plans were made regarding where to keep the catch (if there was one). My dad can take anything from the first trip home....second trip fish would have to stay in the hold or in my cooler until finish the third. Sort of flying by the seat of my pants on this planning.
I'd love to make the run further up north, just not in the cards this year....will certainly be a viable back up plan for next year however. Seeing what my old stomping grounds in Florida are going through...my worrying about a few cancelled trips seems a bit petty. |

Re: Canyon Tuna Weather Call
I remember he booked these trips long ago-months. Probably be out beaucoup bucks with maybe no refunds on three trips for two sites on each one.....

Re: Canyon Tuna Weather Call
Yes sir.... I think I was the first one booked when they published their sailing schedule earlier this year.
We had a good season off the OBX and I was hoping to cap it off with a few good NJ trips. There's still hope I suppose.... WHISTLE...yes...Monday's LiteLoad then the next 2 trips after that.....fingers crossed.... |
