Bad genes suck. Co-worker of mine lost her pops, grandmother and sister to colon cancer and none made it passed 50. Her and her sister had yearly colonoscopies starting at age 25 yet months after one(clean) checkup, sister was already early stage 4. She died at age 41. If its in the genes, its hard to avoid despite checkups and lifestyle changes.

In regards to genes/genetic predisposition to things like high cholesterol and cancer, check out the episode of Vice on HBO about the genome. Eradicating such predispositions is rapidly approaching. They're already performing successful genetic tests to break bad genes in mice with a variety of diseases. Playing god!

Thanks so much for sharing your story Ken. I had my own heart scare several years ago, at the ripe old age of 27. Same as you, persistent "indigestion," then I started getting dizzy and light-headed. Drove my ass to the hospital, they checked me out, nothing wrong. Felt fine the next day, no problems since. Lucky for me, heart problems don't run in my family. Unfortunately, cancer does. It's always something.

Glad to see you back in action. Can't wait to read about your next adventure!
