Default Trouble with Largemouths

Hey all,

So the past few days in a row I have been going out to my spot at my lake and throwing 4" -7" senkos like I have been since day 1 with catching some nice bass.

I cant seem to figure out why all of the sudden the bite stopped. I saw a nice 4lber by the dock and put the worm close to it, I saw it swim towards it and then move away. I am doing nothing different than I was doing in the past. The only thing that I can think of is the heat is turning them off even later in the day. I just bought some Perch colored jitterbug poppers and hula poppers to see if that may help, but wanted to get your opinion. Maybe a little topwater action would help, but I haven't seen anyone use poppers on this lake so I am not sure they will go for it.

Any chance theyve thrown weed killer in the lake recently? They shock the heck out of my usual lake at the beginning of every July and it really hurts the fishing for several weeks after.

not sure Matt, I do see signs for Pesticide treated water, but they bave been up for a while now and I have caught fish while they have been up.

Could be though.

.

Change it up.
Whatever cues stimulated the bass to attack the Senkos isn't in effect at the moment. Try different lures that provide other cues like spinnerbaits.

Ive been trying In-Line spinners but only caught pickeral, yellow perch and sunnies. I will try some other stuff in my arsenal later today after work to see if I can switch my luck!

In mid summer bass tend to turn off more often.. for whatever reason... They seem more active and aggressive in May-June during the spawn... Just for kicks, next time you go to your spot, bring a dozen live nightcrawlers.. If you see a bass, toss one in a few feet in front of it on an unweighted hook, and watch what happens.... LMB almost never turn down a live worm or live shiner in shallow water, even when they aren't real active.... I have seen this time and time again over the years...bob
