Default Pike city 5/31

Fished rainbow lake(< town lake in Haskell/Wanaque/Bloomingdales ) bout 25-30 acres>
Got one small bass, maybe 8 inches on a small frog. All the weed lines and Lilly pads(half the lake is basically pads) are loaded with pickerel. Landed four, prob raised 10. Water was super warm. Of note, I took my smaller kayak and swamped my phone, so no photos

Any one ever notice some lakes are mostly sunnies and pickerel? And any thoughts to why?

I work in that area and have yet to fish there. It's public right?

As far as I know, there's no signs. There's park one lakeside and doty. I use the dam by the corner of the two roads.
Great structure and lily pads further back, but all pickerel

i think pickerel have a very high tolerance for unbalanced or high pH levels, something like that, so some waters may support them (and i'm assuming sunfish for the same reason) much better than other species of game fish.

Would probably make for a fun little ice fishing spot, thanks for the info.

Sunfish & pickerel are two popular species of fish to catch in some/most lakes etc. That's just the way it is.

If ya do, might have to let me know. 2 blocks away, and I've actually never been. Only been in sweet water 2 years, and mostly for trout.

RR, your right. I guess it just didn't make sense to me. Looks like it should be loaded with bass
