Default Final 2015 Susqy trip

With all this good weather I decided to take off some time from blackfishing and get in one last smallmouth trip. After the rain and with rising water levels I was not sure how we would do. I went with my friends Chris and Chris and we had a great day. The west side of the river was very stained so we headed over to the east and found good conditions. We had 122 smalllmouth fishing from 9 to 4. We had about half of that hooked and dropped as well. Everything was on tubes and color did not seem to matter. What was strange for this time of the year was the amount of 12" fish that were active. Usually the big girls will continue to feed thru the winter, but the smaller fish go almost dormant. I guess they were enjoying the good weather also. Our biggest was 18.75 with most being 15 -16. What a way to end a great fishing year on the Susqy.

One month ago we got 3 flatheads on one trip. They hit jerkbaits and tubes. I think that you could do very good if you targeted them. The biggest was about 12#s.

Good report from an AWESOME river! Any Walleye? And what kind of shape were the Smallies in? There's been a lot if things going on over there for quite some time. That's a ton of Smallies in a short time frame. They are STACKED!!!

We did not get any walleyes on this trip. We usually get 2 or 3 while fishing for smallies. There a lot there if you wanted to target them though. i took 15 out of one pool on tubes this year. Biggest was 28"s. The north branch has many more however. I have caught a ton there up to 10#s. These fish were not in the usual winter mode of being stacked in one pool. They were spread out over a large variety of structure.
