Fog
Well boat is all ready and now I see a fog advisory
Long ride for me to get down and find pea soup. I hope it lifts by seven as fog is scary

Re: Fog
Loaded boat with ice, bait, etc but had no radar. Left dock in Bayonne at 5:30AM. Never got out past Kill Van Kull into NY Harbor. Pea soup with Container ships coming into Kill that we couldn't see until they were a few hundred feet away. Waited for 3 hours and called it quits.
NWS calls for same tomorrow. |

Re: Fog
If it's anything like it was today (which is what they're calling for) stay home.

Re: Fog
Fog is nothing to f_ _ k around with especially up around the hook with all the channels and boat traffic. You'd be out of your mind even with the benefit of radar going tomorrow if it's anything like what I hear it was like today. If you've never been caught in fog before, believe me it's nothing to take lightly. Plan for a later departure or take the day off, nothing is worth putting you and your crew at risk in those conditions. You can become disoriented in thick fog in a heart beat and it's not just your vessel you need to be concerned about, it's the other idiots running at 20 knots with 10 feet visibility! Believe me it happens. The seasons just started, makes no sense to take unnecessary risks if given the option. Getting caught in fog on the way back in you can't control, going out in it is asking for trouble.

Re: Fog
^^ what he said. I'm not far from Morgan and the fog is pretty thick inland. It will clear but don't get too anxious and "go for it".
