Default Not a good trip...

Tried for a repeat on PR post work but it was bad. Tried a diff't section with perfect flows and lots of cover. Nada in 75 minutes. Not even a swipe. Later my buzzbait gets hung in one of those many maple trees lining the river. I tried my best to carefully remove it but no luck. My temper then got the best of me. Frustrated with lack of fish and getting hung up, I quickly jerk my fishing pole to the left to snap the line. I did that okay but I whacked the pole against a tree behind me snapping the pole into three pieces. So lost lure, broken pole and no fish. Relaxing sport? Hardly!

Love to hear any similar stories of temper tantrums and broken gear. I once tossed a $350 camera about 100' and more than once threw my pole javelin style. If I have high expectations and they are not met. I get pissed. This is why I get why Tiger Woods curses and slams clubs. Its about failure and not accepting it. If I ever played golf. people would be ducking clubs I'm throwing :-)

The better question would be "Are you married?" lol. No ball and chain attached yet so plenty of opportunites to fish. I go every weekend - both days - pretty much march thru november. All vacation days r for fishing. Weekday trips too either before or after work. Basically I squeeze in fishing whenever possible. 48, single and fishing whenever I want. Life is good.

Full time job often 9 hrs. Anyone can find the time if they are willing to make the effort. A fishing trip doesn't always have to be all day, one day a week thing. An hour or two every few days can add up to plenty of fish.

Two co-workers got the pike bug seeing my pics and gave the river a try. Within an hour one broke his rod after snagging his spinner in a tree and the other left because he was quote "getting eaten alive". Welcome to the world of pike fishing!

Funny, I too was looking for a repeat on the PR yesterday. Lost 3 lures and slipped in the mud, I somehow kept it together lol. But yes, I have javelined my pole on more than one occasion lol

About the most I ever get is disapointed. Fishing for me is not only about catching it's about fishing. I sometimes fish with slip bobbers when I know other methods would be more productive, but it's just so relaxing drifting with some bobbers out, on a summer evening. I very seldom throw any atificals as it's to much like work. That's another thing,I always wonder how come everybody say nice job or good work, fishing doesn't have anthing to do with work, you know how the song goes " WHO'S THE JERK THAT INVENTED WORK" sogy bottom boys.

.

I had a few memorable equipment losses over the years. I try to look on the bright side and use it as an opportunity to upgrade.

My favorite was dropping an expensive camera into the depths of Spruce Run Reservoir when it slid off the hatch of my kayak when I tried to take a selfie.
I used the self-timer to take a selfie then I tilted the kayak to release the bass and heard a 'BLOOP!'.

A few years back, I loaded up my car at the boat ramp at the Delaware Water Gap and drove away. I didn't realize it until after I got home and was unpacking the car that I left ALL my fishing rods leaning up against the car.

Passaic is frustrating because you have to wait and wait and wait until it reaches decent levels. This can often take months(8 months between trips for me) so when you finally go, you hope to do well 'cause it may be another 2 months until u can go again. If we get 0.5" rain today it may be a week before its good again. My "spare" 6' ugly stik has been promoted until I get a new pole.
